Course Unit Description
The course introduces learners to the concepts and dynamics of small business management, covering definitions, small businesses in the global economy, entrepreneurship, planning in agribusiness management, evaluating an existing business, franchising, new ventures, gender and small enterprise management, business location, marketing and market research in business, financing a small business enterprise, pricing, promotion, and service.
Course Objectives
The objectives of the course are to equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand:
- The meaning, characteristics and challenges of small businesses
- The importance and role of small businesses in the economy
- How to start, organize and manage small businesses profitably and efficiently
- The financing and sustainability of small businesses
