Course Unit Description

This course is designed to give students a hands-on experience in farm practice in two sections of choice (one in crop/workshop skills and mechanization, and another in animal production) - by allowing them to do crop and animal management practices on the farms during the semester.

Course Objectives

  • To carry out routine crop and animal production activities on the farm.
  • To identify and solve production farm problems.
  • To appreciate the importance of hands-on experiences in agricultural production
  • To expose students to improved farming methods

Learning Outcomes 
At the end of this course the students should be able to:

  • Carry out routine agricultural production activities on the farm
  • Identify agricultural production problems on the farm and apply improved/modern methods of farming
  • Identify, describe, and explain farm structures, water resources, and construction materials
  • Appreciate the special aspect of housing concerning animal species
  • Develop and grow a career in the agricultural profession
  • Produce a product
