Course Unit Description

This unit introduces learners to the world of work. Each learner will be placed in a relevant place of work where the knowledge acquired in class can be put to practice. This helps to narrow the gap between theory (as learned in class) and practice as required by employers. The learner will be expected to be embedded in the work place for the entire duration of the training (eight weeks) for each of the two training periods; one at the end of Semester Two of Year II and the other at the end of Semester II of Year III.

General Course Objectives
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Apply the basic skills learnt during class lectures to real life situations.
  • Acquire practical skills at the work place to improve his/her learning.
  • Acquire requisite skills in Report writing and effective communication.

Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to;

  • Produce a Report about their world-of-work experiences
  • Acquire team building spirit and leadership skills.
  • Acquire effective communication skills.
