Course Unit Description

The course deals with important concepts of measurement and evaluation in education. It provides backgrounds in testing and assessment theory. Undertaking the course equips students with knowledge of how tests are designed, structured, and implemented; and how to assess the effectiveness of any test by measuring its results. The course further articulates psychometric procedures and principles necessary for achievement of learning outcomes in any subject.  

Course objectives
The course will be able to;

  • Define the key concepts related to educational measurement and assessment
  • Describe the key concepts related to educational measurement and assessment
  • Apply the key concepts related to educational measurement and assessment in day-to-date activities
  • Express the importance and place of good educational assessment practices.
  • Explore test structure and test construction
