Course Unit Description

This course covers the epidemiology and pathology of endocrine diseases. Metabolic diseases are also covered together with laboratory and radiological techniques of investigation. The course also covers the clinical pharmacology of drugs used in treating these conditions.  
 
Course objectives 
By the end of the course students should be able to; 

  • Describe the pathology and epidemiology disorders of endocrine tissues and organs 
  • Describe the immunopathogenesis of auto-immune diseases  
  • Explain the clinical pharmacology of drugs commonly used in endocrine disorders 
  • Explain the scientific basis of laboratory and imaging techniques used in investigating endocrine disorders
