Course Unit Description
Auditing and assurance has of recent become vital for both private and public sector organizations. It is carried out to check organization systems to ensure that all organizational policies set up are adhered to. Students taking this course should expect to learn regulatory policies guiding auditing and assurance services, audit planning and risk assessment, internal controls, audit reporting, internal audit and auditing systems used to check money laundering.
Objectives of this course is to enable students:
- Understand the regulatory environment, auditing standards and and professional code of conduct that guide the auditing process.
- Describe different auditing approaches used in carrying out audit assignments
- Explain audit planning and risk assessment methodologies used to carry out audit assignments
- Describe auditing of internal control systems
- Explain the difference between audit reports
- Explain the auditing approach used to check money laundering.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course the student will be able to:
- To describe auditing, audit and assurance and explain the need for and nature of auditing and assurance.
- To describe the regulatory framework of auditing in Uganda.
- Discuss the various approaches to auditing and produce an audit report in accordance with Ugandan requirements.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively on an assurance or other service engagement
