Course Unit Description
The course will enable students to lean appreciate and interpret the international financial reporting framework and analysis. It will cover setting off accounting standards, financial reporting and measurements of elements of financial statements, preparation of group financial statements, international harmonization of financial reporting standards and financial analysis and interpretation.
Course Objectives
The course is intended to:
- Provide students with reporting skills needed in presentation of financial statements and accounting for SMES
- Encourage students to evaluate principles and practices of international financial reporting framework
- Provide students with the knowledge required to explain application of International financial standards on different elements of financial statements.
- Provide students with skills needed to prepare consolidated financial statements
Help students to develop the ability to carry out financial analysis
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Evaluating the financial reporting framework
- Prepare the financial statements of groups of entities in accordance with relevant accounting standards as well as prepare complete sets of statutory financial statements with complete disclosures.
- Prepare and interpret group financial statements
- Carry out financial analysis and describe the international harmonization process and benefits in international financial reporting framework
