Course Unit Description

This course is designed to equip learners with computational skills in the field of fluid flow in regard to viscous flow, compressible flow, compressible aerodynamics and laminar compressible viscous flow and their applications to industry.

Course objectives

  • To describe the concepts of viscous and compressible flows to the extent of being able to solve classical flow problems in two and three dimensions in bounded and unbounded media.
  • Be equipped with techniques to derive equations representing the mathematical formulation of non-classical fluid flow problems in real life situations and solve the resulting equations.
  • Be equipped with techniques to solve intriguing flow problems, including numerical and other approximation techniques.
  • Be able to interpret and discuss the solutions of problems in viscous and compressible flows.
  • Identify, formulate, solve and analyze viscous and compressible fluid problems
  • Use techniques, skills and modern mathematical tools necessary for engineering practice.
