Course Unit Description

The course examines the interrelations between nature and man with much emphasis being on atmospheric/ climate/ physiographic and biological aspects as well as the resultant effect on development. Size, shape, constituents and movement of the earth. Evolution of the present continents Geomorphic processes, landscape evolution landforms and their influence on resource development, soil, definition classification and formation. Atmospheric contents, air mass distribution in the vertical and their significance in determination of surface physical characteristics of the elements of weather and climate and their significance of their measurements. The impact of climate on the physical environment: vegetation, soils, social, economic activities and settlement patterns climate. Early climate classification schemes and their limitations. Precipitation patterns and land types and their levels of formation (A study of major world physical environmental systems in terms of climate, soils, and Biodiversity (flora and fauna).
