Course Unit Description

This course focuses on understanding the principles of fish populations and the scientific techniques used in assessing fish stocks, evaluation of the effect of fishing pressure on the stocks and the probable impact of different policies for developing and managing fisheries. Basic fishery science equations are reviewed and the techniques developed starting with simple models to more complex method

By the end of the course, students will be able to;

  • Acquire knowledge and skills to assess fish stocks using various tools (b) Learn about the techniques to guide management of fish stocks. 
  • Learn about the methods of fish sampling
