Course Unit Description

The course is designed to introduce elementary concepts of entrepreneurship skills and decision making, practices in business and career paths by surveying functional areas of an entrepreneurial project. The course provides an overview of functional importance of skills in an entrepreneurial world. It lays emphasis both theoretical and practical problem-solving skills. 

 

Course Objectives
The course is intended to equip students with the ability to:

  • Equip leaners with general skills of entrepreneurs; 
  • Internalize entrepreneurial skills and knowledge to competitively operate a small scale business;
  • Build on the learners knowledge foundation of contemporary entrepreneurial issues of decision making
  • Develop skills and competencies for effective entrepreneurial initiation, management and development.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Describe similarities and differences between various forms of  skills needed by entrepreneurs to run their small scale business units; 
  • Appreciate the significance of functional areas in small scale businesses through skills development; 
  • Evaluate key skills of effective performance that every business should be concerned with in a competitive world 
  • Recognize the fundamentals of current entrepreneurial skill practices, the changing roles of the entrepreneur and the customer, future trends in the entrepreneurship world
