Course Unit Description


This course unit is designed to introduce students to the theories of and concepts involved in administration and management. It explores practical issues in administration of education in Uganda with a focus on the different leadership roles in schools. It is intended to develop the trainee teacher’s administrative insight and improve management potential in the field of education.

 

Course objectives
This course unit is meant to

  • Acquaint students with issues and concepts involved in theory of educational administration and management so that they can relate these to Uganda’s educational system. 
  • Develop the trainee teacher’s administrative skills and management potential in the field of education.
  • Turn out graduates who can competently perform administrative tasks at different levels of the education system.

Expected learning outcomes

  • Relate the concepts involved in the theory of administration and management to Uganda’s educational system.  
  • Explain the roles of different administrators in education in Uganda. 
  • Graduates able to perform administrative tasks at institutional, district and national levels. 
  • Identify contemporary issues in educational administration in Uganda
