COC2201 Research Methodology
Course Unit Description
Learners will be trained in the different methods of data collection, procession and analysis to set a food ground for them to write the final year dissertation. Topics to be covered will be elements of sampling theory, survey methods, qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection, report writing and data dissemination.
General Course Objectives
By the end of the course, the participants should be in a good position to:
- To define key concepts in conducting research
- To discuss the research/experimental design
- To examine the techniques of data collection
- To outline steps involved in writing of research/survey report
- To do data analysis from various samples
- To come up with details of a research report
Expected Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- Equip learners with skills of conducting research by use of primary sources of data particularly surveys.
- Equip learners with skills of writing a technical proposal
- Equip learners with skills of writing a technical research report
- Assist learners to implement a small research project by choosing a research topic around campus.
