CHM3105 Organometallic Chemistry
Course Unit Title
CHM3105 Organometallic Chemistry
Course Unit Description
This course deals with the study of the principles of the organometallic chemistry of the s,p,d-block elements. The course includes a survey of chemical bonding, coordination chemistry of these elements, physical and chemical properties of organometallic complexes, and applications of organometallic catalysit in organic synthesis. It also contains some elements of bioorganometallic chemistry.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, the student is expected to be able to:
- Describe bonding in organometallic compounds
- Outline the properties of organometallic compounds (18 electron rule)
- Describe the application of organometallic compounds in homogeneous catalysis
