Course Unit Description

This course is designed to give students the knowledge required in the different aspects of crop protection through identification of pests and diseases as well as their control measures

Course Objective

  • Identify explain the different causes of plant diseases and describe the epidemiology of crop diseases.
  • To classify the different insect pests that damage crops and discuss the control measures of crop diseases

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:

  • Explain the different causes of plant diseases
  • Describe the epidemiology of crop diseases
  • Identify and name a crop disease basing on the symptoms observed 
  • To be able to recognize damage of crops by pests and diseases
  • Diagnose and control crop diseases
  • Identify insect crop pests and nematodes in crop fields
