Course Unit Description

This course provides an introduction to the classification, relationships, structure, and function of plants. It covers reproduction and development of seed and non-seed plants, levels of organization, form, structure and function of plant systems, and a survey of major taxa.

Course objectives 
By the end of this course, learners should be able to:

  • Discuss plant form, structure and function, including selected taxa of both seed and non-seed plants
  • Analyze reproduction and development of seed and non-seed plants
  • Outline major plant taxa.

Expected outcomes

  • Graduates who can be trained as taxonomists working in herbaria or dealing with a diversity of crops or in floriculture.
