Course Unit Description

This is an introductory course in psychology.  The course exposes students, to the origin and nature of human behavior shown by learners, especially in secondary schools. 

Course objectives
The course is intended to help the students to:

  • Explore the various theories and principles of Psychology, and its relevance to Education
  • Appreciate the various personality approaches and theories.
  • Identify Stress and strategies for dealing with stress to promote good health.
  • Relate well with other students and their colleagues

Expected outcomes
Generally, by studying this course, a teacher is expected to be exposed to the most salient issues associated with human attitudes, values and behavior.  As a result, he/she is expected to:

  • Apply the research methods used in psychology in his/her practice 
  • Identify strategies for dealing with stress and promoting health
  • Help students relate well with other students and him or her to relate well with colleagues
  • Appreciate human individual differences.
