Course Unit Description

With more and more microcomputer-based systems entering the marketplace, there is a real need for people who can link their computer hardware expertise to the general needs of business. From this course, students will learn basic computer hardware, Troubleshooting, Repair and Maintenance, Operating Systems and Software, Networking and Security. Students will get plenty of hands-on experience with installing, maintaining and applying trouble-shooting techniques. They will also be introduced to basic engineering tools and equipment.

Course Objective(s)

  • To help students acquire practical skills in a workshop environment

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:

  • Have hands on experience with basic engineering tools and equipment
  • Have working knowledge of computer hardware, Troubleshooting, Repair and Maintenance, Operating Systems and Software, Networking and Security.
