BBA1105 Micro-economics
Course Unit Description
This course introduces students to a wide range of economic concepts on how economic systems operate to allocate resources, distribute income, and organize production through the decisions of individual economic agents (e.g. firms and consumers). The focus is on the operation of a market economy. Thus this course is intended to equip students with skills and tools for:
- Analysis of decisions regarding the allocation of economic resources between the production of different goods and services
- Analysis of the efficiency with which such decisions of allocation of economic resources are made.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Understand and apply basic microeconomic principles to the economic decisions of households and firms under a variety of market conditions;
- Use micro economic principles both to describe and to appraise these decisions;
- Use diagrammatic and basic mathematical concepts and techniques in economics, and analysis and decision making.
