Course Unit Description

The course is designed to provide students with the understanding of the general accounting cycle. The course will cover accounting concepts, double entry system of recording accounting transactions, journals and ledgers used to record accounting transactions and preparation of financial statements. The course will also cover correction of errors, suspense accounts, and bank reconciliations, control accounts manufacturing accounts and accounting for non-profit making organizations.

Learning Outcomes   
On completion of this course, students should be able to

  • Understand and appreciate the general accounting cycle from original accounting documents to preparation of financial statements. 
  • Prepare and interpret bank reconciliations and suspense accounts. 
  • Prepare and describe accounts for non profit making organizations.
